Picture of the future PosadMaxwan

For the book ‘A smart city, this is how you do it – Connected, flexible and meaningful: make the real future city’ of the Future City Foundation, nine design agencies were asked about their future vision of the smart city.

The Streets
The New Institute asked, among others, urban planning agency PosadMaxwan to portray its vision of “Living in Rotterdam in 2030”. The municipality of Rotterdam believes it is important to include designers’ views in the debate on something as important as the future of the city. PosadMaxwan designed “the streets”: “For as long as I can remember, the car dominated the streets and squares. It marginalized all other ways of use. But when in some way the car got its own brain everything changed. It changed from a potty, noisy and harassing appearance to a silent, elegant, almost invisible emergency service. The inhabitants of the city started living on the street again.”

This is a pre-publication of the book “A smart city, this is how you do it – Connected, flexible and meaningful: make the real future city”. With theory in the form of essays. And few practical examples of how our regions, cities and villages have already changed. Want to read more? Go to this page to order the book for free.
